Covid-19 update

Statement relating to new Covid-19 protocols

As you can imagine, the business of owning and operating a small B&B business has changed beyond recognition in the past months. We have all had to reconsider our concepts of normality and this has impacted substantially on the way we must now operate. As a result, we are no longer able to adopt the same informal approach on which we once prided ourselves.

Hospitality business owners come into contact with a significant number of people. In order to keep our customers and ourselves as safe as we are able, we have implemented guidelines which we hope guests will adopt whilst staying here.  Lodge at Lochside strives to maintain the highest levels of hygiene we are able to provide whilst enforcing a 2metre socially distant policy when at all possible. We have endeavoured to incorporate the least restrictive practices we are currently able to offer under Scottish government guidelines. Changes now include:

Check-in and check out times

In order to ensure sufficient time for extra cleaning, we kindly ask that check-ins be between 4pm and 6 pm. We will consider all reasonable requests for alternative timings, but these must be prearranged by contacting us directly. Checkout is 9.30am.  We kindly ask that windows are left open on departure to help protect our housekeeping staff. Please do not travel if you are feeling unwell. We would much rather refund any deposit than put you or any others at undue risk

Breakfast

Breakfast is between 7am and 9am.  Breakfast slots will be made available in 15-minute intervals. A timing request board will be made available in the residents lounge. This will allow us time to ensure guests are catered for in a measured, socially distant manner. Cereals, fruits, juice and toast, as well as tea and coffee will be provided for our guests. Any cooked breakfasts should be pre ordered on sheets provided the night before and requests left in the basket below the board in our residents lounge. This will help us avoid rushes and congestion in the dining area.

Residents Lounge

In order to separate dining and relaxing areas, the residents lounge is now situated in the round part of the building. This allows us to provide a socially distant, quiet space for our guests. This area is designated for guests and staff only and therefore masks are not required.

Kitchen

It is unfortunate that due to Covid -19 restrictions, we are currently unable to provide shared communal cooking facilities for our guests. There are a number of excellent restaurants and takeaway businesses within a 12 mile radius who would be delighted to accommodate you.

 Communal public toilets

We are currently operating a restricted use policy for our public toilets downstairs. This applies to B&B guests as well as café visitors. We encourage all guests to use the facilities in their own room if at all possible.

Internal staircase & Downstairs corridor

Risk assessment has determined that we are unable to preserve a 2m distancing protocol in this area of the Lodge. We ask that to provide as much protection as possible, masks should be worn in this area.

Covid-19 currently dictates a need and determination to lower the risks of contracting the virus as much as we personally are able. We recognise the need to adapt our policies in order to provide our guests with some peace of mind. It is fair to say that these are our rules, based on the guidance available. We may have to adapt further – relax in some areas, tighten in others. Please be reassured that your safety and our safety are of paramount importance to us. We look forward to welcoming you!
